-
An Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) is a university-qualified allied health
professional who specializes in using exercise to help people manage chronic health conditions, recover from injury, improve physical function, and enhance overall health and wellbeing.
-
Both Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists are allied health professionals who help people improve their movement, function, and quality of life, but they have different areas of focus.
Physiotherapists often focus on diagnosing and treating acute injuries, providing hands-on therapy, and managing pain in the early stages of recovery.
Exercise Physiologists specialise in using evidence-based exercise as treatment. They help people manage chronic health conditions, recover from injury or surgery, improve physical function, and develop long-term strategies to support their health and wellbeing. Many people benefit from seeing both professionals, either separately or as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
-
Not at all. Exercise Physiology is for people of all fitness levels, including those who are new to exercise, living with a health condition, recovering from injury, or returning to activity after a long break.
-
Your initial consultation includes a discussion about your health history, goals, current challenges, and any relevant medical information. We may also complete a physical assessment before developing a personalized plan tailored to your needs.
-
As a mobile service, appointments can be conducted at your home, workplace, school, local park, or preferred gym. Wherever you feel most comfortable and supported.
-
A referral is not required for private appointments. However, referrals may be needed for some funding pathways, including Medicare, DVA, Workcover, motor vehicle accident claims, and certain NDIS arrangements.
-
Comfortable clothing suitable for movement, any relevant medical information, referral documentation (if applicable), and a water bottle.
-
Yes. Exercise Physiology can support the management of a wide range of conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, neurological conditions, chronic pain, mental health conditions, and many others.
-
Services may be available through private health insurance, Medicare (with an eligible referral), Workcover, motor vehicle accident insurance claims, DVA, NDIS (self-managed and plan-managed participants), or as a private-paying client.
